A PENTECOSTALIDADE DA IGREJA: ENTRE O CESSACIONISMO E AFIRMAÇÃO DE CONTINUIDADE DOS DONS ESPIRITUAIS

O presente artigo investiga o tema da pentecostalidade da igreja, considerando,
sobretudo, a relação com a práxis pentecostal, especificamente a tensão entre o
cessacionismo e o continuísmo. O estudo parte da constatação de que o "novo
cristianismo global" é amplamente reconhecido por um imaginário e práticas
pentecostais ou carismáticas, que enfatizam a continuidade dos dons espirituais
e a abertura para o miraculoso. Além disso, reconhece-se a influência do
iluminismo sobre visões cessacionistas mantidas por alguns grupos cristãos, o
que representa um desafio em meio ao pluralismo e relativismo contemporâneos.
A pesquisa utiliza uma abordagem bibliográfica e qualitativa, analisando fontes
teológicas e históricas cuja principal categoria de análise são os charismata (dons
espirituais) e seus reflexos na práxis da igreja. A questão central interroga a
relevância da afirmação da continuidade dos dons espirituais na atualidade,
partindo da hipótese de que essa continuidade sustenta o cristianismo bíblico e
apostólico.

ABSTRACT

This article investigates the theme of the Pentecostality of the church, considering,
above all, its relationship with Pentecostal praxis, specifically the tension between
cessationism and continuationism. The study starts from the observation that the
"new global Christianity" is widely recognized by a Pentecostal or charismatic
imaginary and practices that emphasize the continuity of spiritual gifts and
openness to the miraculous. In addition, the influence of the Enlightenment on
cessationist views held by some Christian groups is recognized, which represents
a challenge amid contemporary pluralism and relativism. The research uses a
bibliographical and qualitative approach, analyzing theological and historical
sources whose main category of analysis is the charismata (spiritual gifts) and their
reflections on the praxis of the church. The central question questions the
relevance of the affirmation of the continuity of spiritual gifts today, starting from
the hypothesis that this continuity sustains biblical and apostolic Christianity.
