O PAPEL DA IGREJA EVANGÉLICA NA PROMOÇÃO DA SAÚDE MENTAL

RESUMO

Este estudo destaca o papel da Igreja Evangélica na promoção da saúde mental,
enfatizando como a espiritualidade pode complementar práticas convencionais de
cuidado. Abordando a função terapêutica da Igreja, o histórico das comunidades
terapêuticas e os desafios éticos do cuidado, a pesquisa, fundamentada em
revisão bibliográfica, revela que a Igreja contribui para a resiliência e o bem-estar
de seus membros. Contudo, ressalta-se a importância de respeitar a autonomia
individual e evitar práticas coercitivas. Conclui-se que a integração ética entre
espiritualidade e cuidado psicológico é essencial para o atendimento nos termos
de um cuidado integral e eficaz.

ABSTRACT

This study highlights the role of the Evangelical Church in promoting mental health,
emphasizing how spirituality can complement conventional care practices.
Addressing the therapeutic function of the Church, the history of therapeutic
communities, and the ethical challenges of care, the research, based on a literature
review, reveals that the Church contributes to the resilience and well-being of its
members. However, the importance of respecting individual autonomy and
avoiding coercive practices is emphasized. It is concluded that the ethical
integration between spirituality and psychological care is essential for care in terms
of comprehensive and effective care.
