Tempo, memória e eternidade nas obras O Som e a fúria e Absalão, Absalão
Resumo
ABSTRACT
The topic of this article is the study of the relationship between time, memory and eternity, portrayed by the study of two works that are part of the saga of Yoknapatawpha, created by William Faulkner: “The Sound and the Fury”(1929) and “Absalom, Absalom”(1936). For this, we will take as a starting point reading three important readers of the work of Faulkner-Hyatt Waggoner, Jean-Claude Pouillon and Edmonde Magny - and it is through a dialogue with these critics that we will undertake our reading. The connection between these works will take us to the relationship between time, memory and eternity, whereas the title “Absalom, Absalom” points to a story that ends in eternity, despite its close relationship with the historical time. This is the story of the Jewish people and, more specifically, the alliance which Jehovah made with his servant David, king of Israel.
